Country Club Embroidery in South Florida: Staff, Pro Shop, Events

Country club embroidery in South Florida runs on a calendar. Members arrive in November, tournaments stack up through March, and by April the pro shop is clearing shelves for the quiet summer. Staff uniforms, member merchandise and event gifts all have to be stitched and on the shelf before high season starts, and the crest has to look identical on a cap, a polo and a towel. We embroider for clubs and golf communities from our in house embroidery shop in Hollywood, Florida, between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, and this guide covers how the best run programs work.

Where the clubs are

South Florida has one of the densest concentrations of private clubs and golf communities in the country. Boca Raton and the Palm Beach corridor hold dozens of gated golf communities and legacy clubs. Weston, Plantation and Parkland anchor Broward's club scene. Doral has a world famous resort course and a cluster of communities around it, and Coral Gables, Key Biscayne and Miami Beach round out Miami-Dade. Add the public and semi private courses from Hollywood to Jupiter, and there are hundreds of pro shops and clubhouses that need branded apparel.

What they share is a crest members care about, a staff that works in heat ten months a year, and a short ordering window.

Golf course staff uniforms by department

A club is several businesses under one crest. The crest and thread colors stay constant; the garments change by department.

Pro shop and golf staff

Performance polos in two or three club colors, crest on the left chest at 3 to 4 inches, often a title such as Head Professional or Golf Shop on the right chest. Quarter zips and vests for cool mornings in January. Caps and visors with the crest front and center.

Outside services

Bag drop, cart staff, starters and rangers spend the day in the sun. Wicking polos in a distinct color so members can spot them, crest left chest, and wide brim hats or caps with the crest. Long sleeve UPF shirts are increasingly common here.

Food and beverage

Clubhouse dining, grill room, halfway house and beverage cart staff. Polos or button downs for servers, aprons with the crest on the bib or waist for bartenders and expo, and chef coats with the club name.

Maintenance and grounds

Work shirts, hi vis tees and caps with a simplified crest or the club name in a single color. Grounds crews wash daily and work in wet grass and fertilizer, so durable poly cotton work shirts and a lower stitch count design make sense here.

Tennis, pickleball, fitness and pool

Performance tees and polos in athletic cuts, crest left chest. Towels for the fitness center and pool with the crest above the hem.

Administration and membership

Dress polos, woven shirts and softshells with a tonal or small contrast crest. Membership directors often prefer the quieter tonal version.

Member merchandise and tournament apparel

The pro shop is a retail business, and crested embroidered merchandise is its best seller. Members buy for themselves and guests, and visitors want proof they played the course.

  • Polos. The core item. Several colors each season in men's and women's cuts, crest left chest, often with a sleeve mark for a signature hole or a club anniversary.
  • Caps and visors. Structured caps, performance caps and visors with the crest front. 3D puff works for bold simple crests on structured caps.
  • Quarter zips and vests. High season in South Florida still has 55 degree mornings, and these sell from November through February.
  • Towels and head covers. Golf towels with the crest above the dobby border. Head covers embroidered on the face.
  • Tournament apparel. Member guest, club championship and charity events each want a dated design: the club crest plus the event name and year. These are typically polos, caps and towels, with a quantity set by the field size plus staff.
  • Member event gifts. New member welcome gifts, holiday gifts and board recognition. Embroidered totes, duffels and robes are popular. See embroidered tote bags and corporate gifts.

Mixed orders stay one job. If a tournament wants embroidered polos for players and printed volunteer tees, both run in our building and ship together, with printing handled through our DTG printing and screen print departments.

Crest embroidery and detail limits

Club crests are the hardest logos we see. They were designed for letterhead and entrance signage, with thin scrollwork, tiny dates, latin mottos and shaded shields. Thread has limits, and a crest that ignores them looks muddy on a cap.

Crest element Embroiders at left chest size? What we do
Shield, circle or oval outline Yes Stitch as a satin outline
Club name around the edge Yes if letters reach 0.25 in Enlarge text or reduce character count
Established date in small type Rarely Drop it or move it to a second line on larger placements
Palm fronds, pine trees, flags Yes when simplified Reduce to bold shapes, fewer leaves
Latin motto on a ribbon Only on jacket backs and towels Omit on caps and polos
Gradient or shaded water No Replace with two flat tones
Hairline scrollwork No Thicken or remove

The usual answer is a tiered crest: the full crest for jacket backs, towels and large bag placements, a simplified crest for left chest and cap fronts, and a monogram or wordmark for sleeves and cap sides. Each tier is digitized once and kept on record, so the simplified crest on a 2025 polo matches the one on a 2027 reorder. Our guide to embroidery digitizing explains why a crest cannot simply be shrunk.

Thread is matched to PMS as closely as polyester allows, and a signature green or burgundy gets a locked thread number used on every garment.

Performance fabrics for ten months of heat

Cotton pique looks classic in the clubhouse, but outside staff and members walking 18 holes in Boca Raton in October want performance polyester. It wicks, dries fast, barely shrinks and keeps embroidery flat through hundreds of washes. For staff programs we usually recommend:

  • Performance polos for golf staff, outside services and F&B.
  • Poly cotton work shirts for maintenance, where snag resistance matters more than wicking.
  • UPF long sleeve performance shirts for rangers, starters and tennis staff.
  • Pique cotton or cotton blend polos for administration and member facing roles where a heavier drape is wanted.

Sunscreen and sweat are constant on golf uniforms. Our care guide for embroidered apparel covers how staff should launder so the fabric lasts as long as the thread does.

Ordering before high season

High season in South Florida runs November to April. Snowbird members return around Thanksgiving, tournament calendars fill through March, and the pro shop needs full shelves by the first week of November. Working backward:

When What to order
June to July Finalize crest tiers and thread numbers; approve stitched samples on the actual garments
August Staff uniform program for all departments; new hire overage in common sizes
September Pro shop fall and holiday merchandise; member welcome gifts
October Early tournament apparel; caps and towels; cool weather quarter zips and vests
December to February Tournament reorders, member guest apparel, mid season staff replacements
March to April Club championship and closing events; spring merchandise
May Summer skeleton staff replacements; planning for next season

Clubs that approve samples in summer have a quiet season. Clubs that start in October compete with every other club in Palm Beach and Broward for the same production window, and rush fees become part of the budget. For larger programs, bulk and corporate orders explains how we organize sizing, departments and shipping.

Consistency across reorders

A club's crest is on hundreds of garments bought over several years, and members notice when a new cap does not match the one they bought two seasons ago. Three things keep a program consistent:

  1. Digitizing once. The stitch file for each crest tier is created one time and kept on record. Reorders run the same file, not a new interpretation.
  2. Locked thread numbers. Every color in the crest is specified by thread number and reused across polos, caps, towels and jackets.
  3. Garment records. We note brand, style and color for every item so a reorder of forest green performance polos is the same forest green. When a garment is discontinued, we flag it and propose a match before the run.

Our post on reorders that match goes deeper on this. There is no minimum order, so a single replacement polo for a new cart attendant in January runs the same file as the hundred from August.

Pro shops, general managers and F&B directors across Boca Raton, Palm Beach, Weston, Doral and Miami work with us because the crest comes out right, with real help from the team at our shop in Hollywood, Florida. Start at the embroidery hub to see garments and thread options, or send the crest and we will show you how it stitches.

Frequently asked questions

Who does country club embroidery in South Florida?

Imperial Custom Apparel embroiders staff uniforms, pro shop merchandise and tournament apparel for clubs and golf communities across Boca Raton, Palm Beach, Weston, Doral and Miami from our in house shop in Hollywood, Florida. Crest files and thread numbers are kept on record so every reorder matches, and there is no minimum order for mid season replacements.

What do golf course staff wear for uniforms?

Pro shop and golf staff wear performance polos with the crest on the left chest and a title on the right chest, plus caps and quarter zips. Outside services wear wicking polos in a distinct color with caps or wide brim hats, F&B wears polos or button downs with embroidered aprons, and maintenance wears durable work shirts with a simplified single color crest.

Can a detailed club crest be embroidered on a polo or cap?

Usually with simplification. Thin scrollwork, tiny established dates and gradients do not embroider at left chest or cap size, so we build a tiered crest: the full version for jacket backs and towels, a simplified version for the left chest and cap front, and a monogram or wordmark for sleeves and cap sides. Each tier is digitized once and reused.

When should a Boca Raton or Palm Beach club order embroidered apparel for the season?

High season runs November to April, so approve stitched samples in June or July, order the staff uniform program in August and pro shop and holiday merchandise in September. Tournament apparel and cool weather pieces follow in October. Clubs that start in October compete for the same production window as every other club in the region.

How do you keep club merchandise consistent across reorders?

Three records: the digitized stitch file for each crest tier, locked thread numbers for every color, and the garment brand, style and color for each item. Reorders run the same file on the same garment, so a cap bought this season matches one from two seasons ago. When a garment is discontinued we flag it and propose a match before stitching.
